SU-E-U-02: The Development of a Practical Ultrasonic System for Cross-Sectional Imaging of Small Animals
This paper investigates the development of a medium frequency ultrasound tomography method for small animal imaging. It aims to produce detailed cross-sectional or full-body images of live animals using a low-cost tabletop scanner. Two imaging systems were tested: a phased array controller with a linear probe and an in-house designed system with a single transducer. Both systems successfully produced detailed images, though with varying scanning times. The study suggests that simple and inexpensive methods can achieve high-resolution images, and future improvements could enable quick, non-invasive monitoring of biological changes.
