A Novel Composite Material Specifically Developed for Ultrasound Bone Phantoms: Cortical, Trabecular and Skull
This paper highlights the development of new materials for creating phantoms used in ultrasonic human body investigations, which are crucial in medical training and equipment development. The novel composite material mimics the acoustical properties of human bones and maintains these properties over time, unlike ex vivo tissues. The study presents three types of phantoms: cortical, trabecular, and skull bone, and compares their properties to actual human bones. These advancements facilitate better implementation, testing, and calibration of diagnostic and therapeutic equipment.
